Forward Firing or RXFX?

If I where you I would go with the RXFX and mount them on the back wall, you can switch over on the speaker from bi to di pole and see which sound you prefer.

If you look on the MA website it says these can be mounted on the rear wall and they are a timber matched to your fronts, so the whole sound stage would sound better.

When I changed from the RX series setup I had (my wife thought they where too big) and changed to the R250HD up front, I could not bear to part with my RXFX they are excellent.

Hope this helps.

I have the RXFX and have them mounted on the side wall. I have them set to bi-pole and they sound lovely - a much more evenly spaced sound that "direct" speakers in my opinion.

By the way, how do you put photos up on the forum?

Upload them to a photopage like photobucket, then from there, copy and paste link, or the actual picture, then above you will see insert img, and bobs your uncle

Cheers - I'll give it a go.

I know this is now general forum questions but I have a couple of other questions:

1) what size does the photo need to be to add as an avatar? I've tried uploading a 80x80 pixel jpeg but it won't let me!

2) can we put youtube links on here with vids of our home cinema set ups?

3) What's the capital of Kenya?

Hey, just sold my RX1 in record time, about 30 min, and someone made me an offer.

Nickolp what made you put the speakers beside you instead of behind?

Also just need a final push for the RXFX, I cannot BUY ANYMORE SPEAKERS the wife said.

She aint happy, and need to make sure this is THE LAST pair.

Thanks

they were placed there cos of :-

1. The wife!

2.there's a door and light switch to left of that

They sound ok cos the sound reflects off the back wall bringing the effects closer to my ears, even if they were on the back wall i dont think they would sound any better as there only v.slightly behind the listening position. when we redecorate i will experiment!!

Why dont you just post links to the pics? I would really appreciate it, thanks everyone.

Sorry didnt mean to sound rude nicklop not sure if it came accross that way, was just curious, as di/pole can be the most awkward speakers to place.

That gloss looks sweet john thanks for the pics.

Also no, I would not have any speakers ear height as you are getting sounds direct into your ear, and they are supposed to be (surround-background noise) I would move them up (at least) 1-2 foot.

I am going to try 1 foot to start off with and then 2.

Had my speakers professionally installed and they were put on the back wall 100mm down off the ceiling height. (Modern house)
I wouldn't have thought to place them there myself, but that is what Monitor Audio recommend apparently.

I have the black oak RXFX (ok, £269) ...gota say I do like the black gloss you have John!!

There are some GSFX in 3 different finishes on an auction site just now, £350 each or nearest offer! Might get a pair for £600???

I've got my gloss white (OH approved) rxfx at about the same height as grdunn123's, just under 72" to the bottom of the speakers. Facing each other. This works great for av.

If I listened to more 5.1 music, I'd place them lower, I think it's for music that ear height placement is recommended.

That is just a stupid price, I have the wifes credit card today ready to buy, but she said I can only buy the RXFX, I wonder what she would say if I bought the GSFX
