Slight carry-over from a previous thread re expensive HDMI cables. Best advice for anyone who is still on the fence; take a look at what the professional market is doing, then order this HDMI cable, certified by HDMI to 2160p and resolutions up to 2560x1600 for £17.50 + vat. Who knows, it may become really useful when your TV can support that kind of resolution.

If the price tag puts you off, worry not, there are lower spec versions around too, for those resolutions mere mortals can support (1080p)...

I think main point being that the pro market is less gullible and more pragmatic as to what makes a difference and what doesn't, and on specialized web sites such as the above you can find ridiculously high spec components for considerably less than some of the mainstream consumer brands and retailers. Tells you something about the markup involved (manufacturing cables is cheap).

I like to see how what hi fi rate it before I buy stuff.

Well I don't know about them but i do know someone who is not in the good book.

Like I satated onthe other thread.

i work for an electronics company. Through staff purchase I bought 2x 10m HDMI @11 USD each. The cable works perfectly with no perceivable difference when compared to known brands.

These HDMI vs HDMI threads are getting a little tiring, the best anyone can do is to experiment and buy a cheap one if thats what you want to do and if its good enough for you and the picture is satisfying, then that is brilliant, if you think its not and fancy trying something better than that is upto you, What Hi-Fi can only help if you take their advice on board and go with whats recommended but ultimately you are your own person and the choice is yours.

By the way, this thread should of been listed on the "Hot Deals" section if its about a bargain product that you have seen.

Thats the interesting bit. How do you go about finding such sites? Do any sell headphones?

i agree re. their markup , whats in one hdmi cable thats not in another ?? they are not hand made , id say many come from the same factories , and are just branded differently ,

these cable threads may be tiring if you read them all the time , if thats the case , why read them ?? people log on to sites such as this to read up/exchange views , and gain some knowledge , how can they do that if they cant post their questions ??start threads such as this ??

JD, I keep meaning to ask you something. Quite a while ago, there was a cable thread (possibly the dread Gotham thread - so i could search really eh? - in which you said you were buying a really expensive analogue interconnect to settle the matter for you once and for all (you said you had heard some well reviewd ones and hadnt heard much difference i think).

What was the result?

Apologies for going off topic, OP and all, and to JD if i have got any of the above wrong.

Also these threads are here for people to express their views, so what was wrong with me expressing my own view on this matter?

It's good to see threads from people who are not sure what to do and seek advice but to see repeat answers from the same individuals on various threads about the same matter is getting a little tiresome but thats my opinion, you have your opinion too maxflinn aswell as anyone else here. So there is no need to target individuals with a negative reply.

hi m , no offence meant , its just that whats tiring for one can be informative for another ....

Thanks for the tip, Storsvante.

Just ordered the 2.5m version, seems to be worth a punt because I'll try (almost) anything to cure my Philips 47PFL7404's appalling motion-blur.
