Focal Bird 2.1

Focal Bird 2.1: Would suit our setup fine (Blue-ray player + TV). Is it a design toy or serious hi-fi? (Focal Dôme got good reviews, but it is double the cost).

I would rather spend a couple of grand more (on small B&W's or KEF's) if Focal Bird sounds like a Bose system. The Bose systems I've audtioned have sounded like expensive toys.

Yep, we haven't had it in for test, I'm afraid. Keen to experience it, though

I've read an independent review online and it says the low frequencies are well implemented, with no boom or tizz you might associate with products like those produced by Bose.

The Focal stand at Bristol 2012 was easily my favourite. The sound they get out of such small speakers is amazing. When I listened to the Domes that were set up in a 2.1 configuration I asked the Focal chap what they sounded like without the sub. He replied "That is without the sub, it's not turned on" !!
