The Arias 948 is a demanding speakers not easy to move them maybe

your amp was not strong enough in terms of power for them .

I have had a pair of Arias 948 at home. They sounded Bright and clear, but I found them Lacking in Bass power. Anyway that could have been my room, that is problematic, and my personal liking for a strong bass.

Very odd.

I have a pair of Focal 1008Be's (yes standmounters!) and the Bass is phenomenal. - Even on Organ music.

This big, fat, tuneful Bass provides a brilliant foundation for the crystal clear mids and highs. Tweeter and Bass units sound seamless together.

Wonder what's going on here??

Infinite is right, they don't lack bass (1008Be). Arias on the other hand are a bit shy on this particular aspect (speaking about 906 and strictly in comparison to 1008). Haven't heard 948 though.

Yes, 1008 Be's are excellent speakers and ones which i feel also pair well with Naim amplification

It's to be expected that Aria 906's are not going to offer be the same level of performance as the Electra 1008 Be's given that 1008 Be's are in the next series up and cost over three times the price of the Aria 906's. Having said this Aria 906's are still capable of producing quite a hefty punch

Totally agree. As a matter of fact, I have kept my Arias plugged in and I give them a listen from time to time (especially for piano music).

Hi there,

I had Chorus 706 and Aria 906 at my home demo. I was interesed in arias since I saw massive advertising an allegedly compatibility with (my) naim si combo. Naim reccomends this combo with aria serias, but Focal pair it with chorus range, 706 to be exact. That's why I ask chorus 706 as well but not particulary interseted in because it was hard to believe. But that was an excellent decision since chorus range was much much better match and it was almost unbelievable how the sound was so good. Aria, on the other hand was polite but uniteresting and suffer compresion when you drive it louder. I noticed the potenial of arias but it didn't seem to match. Afterwards I got the information that the aria range is develeoped in conjuction with Unity range with hi res in mind, but chorus are good match with calssic integrated amps such as mine or xs 2. I would strongly reccomend that everyone should follow focal's remarks about room size because 706 can easily fill my room of 18 sq m. And the sound is impressive. So there's no need to exaggerate - that's my experience. On other occasion I heard arias with new atom and I defenetly realized that arias are good with streaming sourece - and I don't know why. But sound is different that mine. Mine is true hifi with every elemnt of music, while the atom/aria was more laid back and for background listening.

If I am not mistaken ,I think you can almost never go wrong with speakers "made in France". The French offer great musicality - it is often less clinical (trade off) but the upper midrange boost is their trademark what makes almost most music sound superb. But I still need to listen to more of those to substantiate my initial views.

I have just realized why Arias didn't fit in my room - because it is specified to distance of 2.5 m and my listening position is longer than that. Regarding harshness in high frequencies I must say that I don't know what are you talking about because highs are almost to mellow so that strong angling is my recommendation. It must have been something with bad acoustics or naim wasn't connected with longer than 3.5m nac a5 cable which makes a great difference. Neither chorus or arias suffer sibilance in my system, quite the opposite.
