Fixing a vintage AKAI AM 2800 - Do it or not?

Hey there,

a while a go i bought an awesome looking vintage AKAI receiver. It has these oldskool meters on it 8)

Now it is pretty messed up when i switch some buttons it crackels as hell...

sometimes its normal and than its messed up again.

Is it worth fixing?

lovely bit of kit and very similar to my vintage jvc jas71 which i wish i,d have kept. i think it depends how much its gonna cost although saying that if you bought an amp with that build quality in todays money it would cost you a fortune, so depending on what sort of sound youre after ( some non vintage guys on here may well argue that the sound may well be off the pace, which is a valid point) although personally i,d give it a go as many classic pieces are good enough to keep and slot into many different types of systems. Plus it looks dead cool.

Ok i'm going to give it a shot... So i'm able to build computers, i made a solar panel power windmill for on your desk and thats about how technical i'm ... :rofl:

I got the manual thats the good news x'D Any tips where to start off with this project?

Besides this what (vintage) speakers would you recommend wich suits the capacity of the amp?
