First TT

Hello to everybody,

I've been gifted the Q Acoustics 2050i, and now i have plans to buy amplifier and turntable. The budget is about 1000e. The room is about 23-24m2, i listen classic rock, heavy and jazz.

Please advice what is better to buy new or vintage, and which stuff can i take into account?

P/S I'm not pretending to be sound expert and i'm totally incompetent in the component's compatibility...

Welcome to the forum Pillowman. Do you already own lots of vinyl?

If not I am not sure why you are heading down the turntable route.

If you search this forum you will find plenty of threads about first turntable set-ups.

If that is Euros 1000 for both amp and turntable it would be nice to know what makes you can actually get to audition wherever you are living.

No i have not lots of vinyl, just my grandpa's Soviet vinyl collection, and 1 new Iron Maiden "Number of the Beast" LP, which as i believe is the beginning of my collection )

You see i'm searching through different forums almost a month and still i haven't consider the exact variant. Because as they say "tastes differ"...

i ordered a new Jico stylus for mine today.

i ordered a new Jico stylus for mine today.

Sure, that is what I meant.

Great turntable. I currently got a shibata tipped AT on mine. - I haven't tried the original Technics cart from my SL6 on the 7 yet but have an original new/old stock panasonic replacement eliptical on the way. As soon as I got it it will get a run.

By the way, the SL-6 is very nice too. Perhaps add one of those to your collection?

i ordered the jico EPS 202 SAS for the original Technics cartridge. I don't really want to collect, but I want offspring to have an easy entry to vinyl. My son has a cheap Project job which would be out shone by an SL-7.
