First system Advice

Hi Guys

I'm in the market for my first real sound system and I'm slightly confused as to what I should be looking at and what I need to spend. I had originally been looking at purchasing the B&W Zepplin but my better half has convinced me that I should look for something that has CD and radio as well as iphone compatability.

Looking at the reviews on site I was considering the Denon D-M38DAB and pairing it with a set of MX1 speakers. However, a guy in Richer Sounds told me I would be wiser going for the Monitor Audio BX1 speakers. This will bring the system to around £370, which is slightly more than I had intended to spend but if it's worth it i'd pay it. Could anyone advise on what I should do?

Thanks

Paul

I've been thinking about the DM38 myself and pairing it with the Monitor Audio BR1.
Obviously the BX range is a step on from the BR range it replaced but the BRs are pretty good. I use a pair as rears with my cinema setup.
This can be had easily for less than 300 eg Peter Tyson Online, but I'm sure there are plenty of other online retailers that can match or even beat this.

I used to have the DM37 paired with Tannoy F1 customs and I found it an exceptional combination.

Tannoy have recently launched their successor the V1 which can be had for £130. They have an excellent write up in the current edition of WHF so I would definitely put them on your radar as well.

. Also consider either Q Acoustics 2010 or 2020 which will work well with the Denon.

Happy demo's.
