Afternoon all,

I have finally saved enough money to complete my home AV set up by which I mean replace my old Denon 1906 with a new HDMI amp. With the set up below would people recommend:
  • Pioneer LX53 (just seen good review)
  • Pioneer LX72
  • Denon 3310
I'm still hunting for good prices on Denon 4310 or Pioneer LX82.

Current set-up:
  • Acoustic Energy Evo 3bs (7.1 set up)
  • Denon 1906 (receiver)
  • Pioneer Lx52 (blue-ray player)
  • Marantz cd player
Your advice is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Ross

Hello,

I am also interested in upgrading my sony da2400es and am looking at the new lx53, the whfi team have given it a glowing review in the latest mag. I would also be interested in what some of the many experts on the forum think of it. Although i don't know wether to wait and see what sony will release in the next month or so.

Go the LX72. IMHO Denon can't remotely compare to these Pioneer receivers especially where music is concerned. The ICE power amps driving the Pioneer LX kit are in a league of their own. I switched from Denon to Pioneer mainly because I found recent Denon kit disappointing with music.

I guess it depends what your priority is. Denon no doubt lead on features and for movies are great but if you value your music too, I doubt you'll be disappointed, us the LX72 should integrate nicely with your BluRay player.

But, as with all purchases, make sure to audition all your considerations before buying anything - preferably at home if possible.

Hi,

I have recently gone down this route myself, replaced my Denon 1909 with the Pioneer SC-LX72.

It is hard to give a direct comparison because I changed my speakers at the same time, however, the combination of my speakers and this amp is a joy to listen to, and I can now listen to music in stereo with excitement.

I do not think you would be disapointed with the LX72.
