i have just had nearly 4hours of swapping my br5's and br1's on my main hifi and just came to the answer that the br1's give a much more of detailed and social listen. And maybe there a touch more reallistic. The br5's just go to deep and in way you can miss the key areas in music like, the who,the doors etc. It may be a factor that my arcam amp does seem quite forward and the dac-magic has added depth and punch. So i now have a hifi of br1's and my fronts of my home cinema are br5's looks silly to have them on the outside but hey.

I will say that i have wooden floor above a shop, they are 10inch away from a plasterboard wall and they are only 7ft apart so im sure the br5's are good its just wrong place wrong time. I must admit that bruce on blu ray/xbox360 sounds good through the floorstanders been able to turn my rubbish sub down to 60hz which has helpted no end.

so in the next 5 weeks if anyone sees any unreal offers on these bookshelfs post them please im looking/demoing the follow asap

kef iq30-dali ikon-rs1's(if i can find anyone who still has them)-whalfdale10.1's

i am giving the rx1's-b&w685 and the mezzo2's out cause i have a feeling that the laid back detailed long listen is not them.

has anyone else got a sorry along them lines.

VERY INTERESTING!!!!!

I also find the br1 better than the br5 and the br2. I also dont like the rx1 or the 685. or even the rs1.

I am also planing to buy the br1 soon. They sound so yummy.

They lack in presence, when compared to the BR2's, so i wasn't particularly impressed

ear, i have never really gave the rs1's a good listen just love the look and hoped for a bit more of the same with a bit of extra class than the br1's.

I have been reading reviews for nearly 2 hours and the kef iq30's are looking very tasty not to many bad things to say, look smart and they dont mide why you put them.

If you go for the br1's ear you wont be let down they are dead solid throw r&b , pop, indie ,drum and bass and they seem to give that sit down chill out and take it in listen (and dont take over the room). Im sure people who want to fill the room want to feel a deep base and like there music to make them sweat would hate these. Thats what makes speakers so much fun horses for course's so to speak

Of course, I was just giving my opinion, depends on the music and what you are looking for. They were alright, just not really my cuppa tea

i think its more the music one listens to, the sources/amps and the room really does play a major part in this, i dont think i room can make a speak sound better but i now think the wrong room can make a speaker sound wrong/painful.

Wharfedale Diamonds are perfect for long listening sessions. To be honest it is still well worth auditioning the 9.1s as well as the 10.1s. They give plenty of detail but in a very fluid and enjoyable way that makes marathon explorations through the CD collection or iTunes library sheer pleasure. At £99 they are an incredible bargain.

Maybe some English lessons will help as well, as you try to articulate what you need. (By the way, no offence meant in this post - only observation and comment.)

Ive just been trying the NS-333 with the HK3390.After fiddling much with bass and treble to tame the brightness of the NS-333(I just supposed I'd lower the treble to tame the brightness and up a bit on the bass) I couldn't get it to sound right.and the lower the treble knob was I could still hear unwanted brightness...then it ocurred to me: put the treble higher than normal. Now treble and bass are both at 1,5 hours.and all the frequencies come togheter as a good sound...sometimes it is not the way you think it is ,but the other way..like this the treble came to peace with the mids.just sounds good now. This is to show bass and treble are indeed very usefull, and knowing how to use them is fundamental to get the sound right.
