Faulty amplifier after 12 months

I bought a new amplifier last June and since then, it has failed on me, the second time being yesterday. The unit will not switch on at all, so could be something as easy as a blown fuse. However, the fact it has happened twice in just over 12 months does not instill confidence in the unit. I have had about 6 amplifiers spanning 25 years and this has never happened before. Do I have any rights to hand this amplifier back and demand a new one (like rejecting a car)? Love the amp, but when it won't switch on, its a waste of time.

I very much doubt you can reject it after this length of time. Perhaps it should have been returned the first time it happened. No harm taking it back to the dealer to see if they can rectify the fault though, always assuming you bought it from a dealer.

Yeah I did, first time was after a week or so, then just happened again. Just worried that when it is out of warranty, what do I do - the dealer is the other side of the country to me!? Never had an amplifier just not turn on before, even ones that are +20 years old, hence the worry.

What brand is it so that we can condemn it forever after as a community, never to be mentioned in these pages again inviting immediate spontaneous internal combustion if breaking the ban thus precluding the usual 'yeah ... they have a long history of this ... ' comments :)
