EXPENSIVE OR CHEAPER TVS THE DIFFERENCE

Im confused at present with all the myth surrounding the lcd and plasma sets on the market at present by that i mean i have purchased a top of the range pioneer pdp428xd plasma screen which at present is great alround picture/colours/sound and great looking set full of such a huge range of spec but what im getting at is my sister has the lg 42 plasma about £600 and a relative also has the sony 37p3020 model but my dad claims that after viewing all of these sets he claims that he cannot see any difference in the quality of picture as such so id like anybodys opinion on this and if you can or how you tell the difference in the quality of set etc i mean my set cost me £1500 so big difference in price but is it in overall quality anyone.

there is a big difference between the two 42"s, if you see it with your eyes isnt that all that matters?
