I brought home a pair of Focal 906 Aria's at the weekend for a home demo. Have them until Saturday. I was using 14 year old Celestion A1 stand mounts and wondered what these Focals would bring by comparison. The Celestions could verge into brightness with rock discs and could sound a bit edgy in the highs. With well recorded jazz, blues all was fine. Acoustic material also worked very well.
What I am hearing now with the Focals is very pleasing smooth highs but with plenty of detail. The mids are absolutely lovely with vocals full and extended. The wife commented how nice her favourite disc sounds through these. They are very easy to listen to for extened spells. I nearly spent all weekend in my man cave and my ears are still intact !!. The bass is also very tight with good scale.
I do really like these but might ask to hear something else , RS5 or Neat as a comparison.
I think the Focals are an excellent match for the Elex though.
