I am now the proud owner of a Leema Tucana II, 10 months old, purchased on eBay for £1,550.07.

Now all I need to do is break the news to the missus.

I think that's a bit of a bargain myself.

JoelSim,

It is a bargain indeed! I knew you would not last long with the Unison Research Unico CDE.

Leema Antilla II next?

I think besides you, there is only one other perosn here with a Leema hi-fi, some Wolfman or Mr Wolf? Anyway, elite club.

Well done Joel, yes a bargain indeed, i take it you are nearly there in getting your perfect sound now.

Well done, Joel. I think the missus will be fine once she hears the fabulous sound. My only ever-so-slight reservation is it may not have the warmth you're familiar with...

I loved the sound anyway, but sometimes put a bid in on something in the hope of getting a bargain. 9 times out of 10 I get comprehensively outbid. This time I was very lucky indeed.

I'm keeping the Unico CDE definitely. Subject to system synergy working with the Leema, that's me done for the foreseeable future.

The reports on the Tucana II have been superb across the board so I'm looking forward to hearing it now. Just need to sell the Maestro Settanta, although I may well hold on to this until I've tried the Leema in my system as back-up just in case it's not a match. The Maestro is a great amp anyway, it walked all over a Bryston B60 in a demo I did at home.

It's a good price and it will really grab hold of those Kudos. The Tucana isn't a Maestro Settanta and it wont be laid back and comfy so expect some fireworks!

Happy days...[:0]

I wonder if the seller is on here??

I was tracking a Tucana for a similar price, not that I had any intention whatsoever of bidding. Hope you enjoy it.

great result Joel. i nearly picked up the mk.1 for about that money a while back, would've been a great bargain - so to get the mk.2 when it's not been out long...

Well apart from me, with my Leema Antila and Tucana II pairing

Congratulations Joel. Could you please ask your Wife where i should send the flowers to?

You're not a million miles off BC. I think there will be a quiet spell, a year or two perhaps.

Well it ought to be able to drive the Kudos as well as anything out there.

igglebert:Wow, what an amp, what a purchase. Enjoy it!

I hope it's fit for purpose Iggle.

Clearly your previous one wasn't?

It is fit for purpose. As stated I love the AA amp and it wiped the floor with a Bryston B60 I compared, but this price on the Tucana 2 was just too good to miss.

igglebert:Well it ought to be able to drive the Kudos as well as anything out there.

Not as well as a cheap amp box on the back of a speaker tho?

igglebert:Eh?

Exactly! An amp just has to be fit for purpose, otherwise there is no difference is what you said Iggle, on that other thread.

igglebert:Eh?

He's having a pop at our friend from another thread today. The one who enjoys AVI N5s with AVI amp packs and a MacBook.

Only in that he stated 'an amp just has to be fit for purpose', which is a ridiculous statement. And Iggle agreed. I should send the Tucana back then, put a few quid back in the bank and use the amp off my Pure DAB radio as that is fit for purpose.

I think you misunderstand (plus I didn't say those words). I meant that an amp needs to be able to drive your speakers perfectly. That's what it's purpose is. If you drive them with an amp that doesn't have compete control, you add colour. If the amp is fit for the purpose of driving the speakers as intended, job done. Active speakers will have amps fit for purpose. Once a speaker is being driven perfectly then the limitation is on the source and speakers, eg the component quality, etc.

Talk about missing the point.
