Easy Upgrades

Hi, I recently purchased the Marantz CR502 system with some small MA BR1's. Initially I was extremely underwhelmed, but after reading about placing the speakers on granite with squash balls underneath (it's on a sideboard, not ideal but the only place it could go) it improved, and has continued to do so with what I'm assuming is the burn in period period.

Anyway to my point, what other cheap and easy upgrades would you suggest could be made to any level of system to improve it.

Thanks in advance as this is a a purely selfish thread in an effort to maximise musical enjoyment whilst minimising expense.

Nothing selfish in that at all. Assuming you've sited your speakers in the best place you can to optimise the listening experience you're getting, then it's a case of honing up on the good recordings out there. *** over to the Steve Hoffman forum, register, and start looking in around there. As forums go, it's one of the most well informed out there for good quality recordings/well mastered discs. If that's a foreign language it'll all be explained over there!

You can of course spend more on equipment upgrades, but I'm assuming you'll want to enjoy your current purchase for a while yet! And joking aside, the Hoffman forum is a really great resource. Your gear will love you for it!
