I'd like to set up an easy-to-use system in our kitchen that can play in the kitchen and, optionally, the same thing in the adjacent living room. i.e. I want to be able to turn off the sound in the living room.
Characteristics of this system:
Input
* Internet radio - including a stream that is password protected (Exploring Music from WFMT)
* MP3's on Win8.1 PC
* FM radio - Ideal, but not essential
Output
* Kitchen unit self-contained with speaker(s) - space is limited - but it should be the control point
* Two speakers in living room - ideally wireless, but wired would be possible.
Control
* From kitchen unit as noted
* As simple a UI as possible - my wife gets easily frustrated.
I know I can create this using a smartphone as auxiliary input to self-contained radio that has audio output. That may be the best choice, but I'm hoping for something more self-contained and easier to use.
Advice on components and issues would be most welcome - note that I live in the USA if that makes a difference.
