Now have a response from Panasonic. My guess is that receiving a software update changed the settings. Tried the suggestion and it worked for me.
ISSUE RESOLUTION: Dear Mr **********,
Thank you for your patience and
allowing us the time to investigate the PZ81 phenomenon.
Please accept
our assurances that this is not indicative of poor quality, Panasonic products
are manufactured to the highest specifications. We would like to reassure you
that this is not attributed to a component failure within the product but
appears as a result of the software settings within the device.
Therefore we would recommend that the unit is set back into shipping
conditions. This action will reset the TV to its original condition, i.e. no
programmes tuned in. All settings other than "Owner ID" (programmes, picture,
sound quality, etc.) are reset.
Instructions can be found on page 42 of
the PZ81 user manual. I have listed the instructions below for your
perusal.
Display the Menu by pressing the Menu button on the
remote
The Viera main Menu will appear
Select Setup
The Set up
menu will appear
Select shipping conditions
Press OK to confirm the
start of the shipping conditions (follow the on screen instructions)
"Auto
Setup" will automatically start when Mains power on / off switch is next turned
on
Please note that the EPG for Freesat and DVB will update during even
hours. We would therefore recommend that you carry out the above on an even
hour, for example, 4pm, 6pm 8pm etc.
We trust that the above information
will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further
queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0844 844 3852 or
customer.care@panasonic.co.uk and we will endeavour to assist.
Kind
regards
