Drop down housing for Projector - problems of size!

Trying to work out how to place either an Infocus IN83 or a JVC DLA-HD100 into a drop down in-ceiling housing.

Problem is that the largest gap between the joists allows a Future Automation PD2 system to be fitted but this only has 19cms vertical space for the projector. Dealer has said we don't have enough height inside the drop down housing to accommodate both a projector and it's mounting plate required to let it tip forwards or back. Is this correct? Do these projectors need to be able to tip back or forward or can they be mounted flat to the underside of the inner-surface of the drop down housing?

Any help much appreciated on this and the make of drop down housing if anyone knows of any other makes to try!

Depends on your setup - many ceiling mounts have a ball and socket or tilt adjustment so that you can adjust the angle of the projector to get the image to land on the screen. If you mounted it directly, assuming you can actually do so, which may not be that likely if the design expects a tilt mount, then the only way you have of adjusting the image position would be any optical/mechanical image shift adjustments on the projector; otherwise, if it doesn't land in the right place you're stuffed. If you know the angle you need you might be able to get an engineering firm to make a fixed angle custom mounting plate that might save a bit of space. You may also want to check that whatever you end up with meets the ventilation requirements for the projector :)
