Double DAC'ing and the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital ?

I own a Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 (not the ultra). I only use Spotify connect on a single room system so it does the job well.

However recently I have been looking at DACS and the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital seems like a good fit.

my question: I assume is the Box S2 must have a dac already? So will I effectively be double dac'ing. How does this work?

As this combination is suggested by Project I assume the day in the Stream box is bypassed somehow as the dac in the Pre Box is definitely better.
Perhaps an email to the might clarify matters quicker.
Having had a look I am pretty sure if you use the optical out on the Stream box it hasn't actually gone through the dac in that item.
Taking the optical signal into the optical in socket on Pre Box means only the dac in this is utilized.
