Hi ive got Ruark MR1 speakers and im going to pair them up using a dongle as my laptop does not have Bluetooth built in

It recommends in Ruark MR1 manual using an apt dongle

can you recommend a dongle

Thanks if its ok can I ask you another question, my laptop is always in my bedroom and I don't need to have my laptop speakers Bluetooth I can also connect up a 3.5mm stereo jack

If it was you would you go Bluetooth or stay wired from laptop to the speakers

For convenience, I;d say wireless, but for sound quality I'd usually recommend wired but it may depend on what kind of laptop you have.

I have had terrible audio coming out of the headphone socket of a Sony Vaio when plugged into the mains, but fine when on battery, whereas my Macbook Pro is somewhat more forgiving wired. What've you got? Have you tried playing out of the headphone socket?

Hi yes I was once told wired was better my laptop is "Dell XPS L502" http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-XPS-L502X/dp/B005AFUAW8 I got it a couple of years ago ive not tried the speakers wired yet as I need a "3.5mm stereo jack cable" and the speakers did not come with one.

would any old "3.5mm stereo jack cable"do as i think my friend has one

OK I'd get one of those cables and try it first - in my experience a cheap laptop will have a cheap sound card and a cheap power supply, and will hum like buggery when you plug it into the mains and then into a stereo, in which case an AptX dongle will give you much better sound.

A quick look on google suggests that your laptop has an optical output. You can get a 24/192 DAC off ebay for under a tenner which you can then run to a 3.5mm jack.

That will work much better than bluetooth or a standard 3.5mm lead as optical avoids the PC 'noise' and can carry 24/192.
