I think 3D will be back as soon as Avatar 2 comes out - that will be next thing we are sold - its HDR presently.

The Samsung Plasma witrh active glasses had full resolution 3D - even in their mid range sets - but they suffer from crosstalk ghosting according to reviews from memory or something

Panny dropped the full fram motion to remove cross talk and ghosting again from memory of HD Tv test reviews.

So the Tech can do Full 3D HD resolution - but there was obviously an inherent compromise there as a result.

There has been promise for a long time well over a year maybe longer and still no sign - but most blu rays have DTS sound tracks so you would expect there to be more content in DTS X naturally.
Whilst there have been DTS:X releases, you'll probably find Dolby and DTS are waiting for UHD to kick in before stepping up the push on next gen sound formats.

As already mentioned though, it's going to be niche. The majority are buying soundbars and soundbases, with a tiny number buying normal surround sound - and a tiny number of that tiny number investing in the likes of Atmos. Of those that do invest, only a tiny number are actually going to do it properly. So its niche, within a niche, within a niche. Most people are still buying DVDs.
