Looking for a little help I have just finished setting up my new turntable Radius 5.2 and the cartridge is a lot closer to the record than my last turntable Rega RP3 with Elys2

Here is a picture what do you think it looks about 6mm off the record

You can't add images directly, you need to upload to something like Flickr and link to it from there.

Hm, to me it does not look right, but it is a cartridge I have not owned or listened to... does it sound ok?

THe arm geometry, is that set up correctly?

However, as a general rule of thumb you achieve optimal tracking weight when the stylus cantilever is depressed by about 50% from resting on the record with the arm tracking set so that it just about contacts the record. Obviously this is a generalisation but should provide a starting point for a reference. Good luck! :)

It sounds fine

I have set the Arm geometry using the roksan template and the arm is level when on a 180G record.

The cantilever is depressing around 30 - 50% I would say when on the record.

It just looks too close.

Well after lots of trying and thought I have decided this set up is just not right cartridge body too close to the record.

I have put a Rega cartrige on it and it set up great with normal clearance from the record.

The dealer has been kind enough to accept a return on this Rondo Red cartridge, I have changed my choice to the Ortofon Black MM cartridge hopfully this will look and work better with this arm.

Well all is well now I sent back the Ortofon Rondo Red MC and got the Ortofon Black MM. It is on the turntable and have been listening to it though Roksan Kandy K2 in built Phono Stage. It sounded good but I have been awaiting a Phono Stage on home loan so I could get it back on my Caspian M2.

I am so pleased a Graham Slee Reflex M arrived this morning with a PSU1 power supply at the post office thanks to Jon at the Graham Slee Forum.

Just plugged it in and started warming it up and started by listening to a realy variation of music

The Streets A Grand Dont Come For Free

Elton John Live in Australia

Radio Head Creep 12inch

Which Side Are You On

Jeff Buckly Grace Original pressing

and now I am moving on to Pink Floyd The Wall and we will see what is next.

All I can say is WOW bloody WOW.

My set up sounds everything I hoped it would be I am very happy so far, I have the Reflex M for 2 week to put it through its paces and then need to decide if I should try something else or buy the Graham slee. First impressions I am buying a Reflex M.
