Hi all,

as the title really. I'm reading quite a bit about "HD audio" at the moment and the downloads available from HD Tracks amongst others. I know my Sonos won't stream that high, but does anyone know if the PS3 supports it? My PS3 is plugged in to my AVR so I could at least get good quality in the living room.

As far as I know the PS3 only supports playback of 24bit files if stored as LPCM.

It does support a wider range of HD audio formats when playing discs (eg download and burn to DVD-A/BD), but this doesnt sound like what u want.

Failing that u need a transcoding media server.

I use an A.C.Ryan playon!HD mini2 (£80) to play 24bit flacs from my NAS (as well as BD/DVD rips).

Unfortunatly i don't think that the PS3 doesn't support playback of high resolution audio files, other than from discs such as blu-ray (or SACD on the original 60GB PS3).
