Do Kef X300A sound anything like any of these: Q100, Q300, R100, LS50 ?

I'm interested in buying some X300A speakers but am nowhere near a place to demo. I already have Kef R100 speakers running off an Arcam A38 Amp in my lounge and am very familiar with how these speakers sound and when buying them demoed the Q100, Q300 and LS50. So my question is are the X300A similar in construction and sound to any of these other Kef speakers I've already heard. The X300A would be in a good sized room being fed from my HP X2 laptop. Many thanks Stuart

There is definately a KEF 'house' sound but as you have probably heard there are slight variations to that throughout the list of speakers you present.

Must say I have not heard them myself but if you are OK with the house sound then they sould not disappoint.

I think you're right that as I like the Kef sound I will like the X300A but I suppose what I'd really like to know in advance of splashing the cash is where on the kef sound quality scale of 1-10 they'd fit assuming the Q100 = 4 out of 10 and Q300 = 6 and R100 = 8 and LS50 = 10. Even though I know that this is a flawed scale and subjective as I bought the R100 over the LS50 not because they were cheaper but because I thought the LS50 were too analytical and stark for my tastes :)

Just got this reply from Kef:

'You will find that the characteristics of the X300A are very similar to that of the Q100, particularly because they share drive unit'.

I know that the X300A speakers for designed for close desk listening.

Due to a change in living circumstances I am going to have to have my LS50s in a bedroom, probably on a desk as computer speakers

I know this is not ideal, but is there anything I can do to make them sound great?

Full or half bungs?, desk stands? or even acoustic foam?

Desk stands are really good to get away from comb filtering effects. Experiment with angling upwards a few degrees too. Have a good equallaterial triangle. have the rear ports on the outside so their further out into the room.

Should sound great. Would you put up a couple of photos?

I own a pair of x300a 's for well over a year now. It was the first time I spent this much money on a music installation, so I can't really compare.
They sound really clean and clear, but seriously lack in punch (no, I am not a bass head). Also the limited connectivity is a big con. I wouldn't recommend them, I think the eggs would be a better choice, or of course if your budget allows for it, the LS50 wireless.
