Do I need a preamp for turntable to active speakers?

Hi, I'm not very technical, so forgive me if this question has an obvious answer...I've decided to buy a Rega Planar 1 Plus turntable and the Ruark Audio MR1 Mk2 active speakers. Do I still need a preamp/amp to connect the two or can I plug the turntable straight into the active speakers? If I do need a preamp, are there any that you would recommend? Ideally I am looking for a small set up altogether. Thanks, Gareth

As far as I am aware the Plus part of the Rega means an inbuilt phono stage so you don't need a separate preamp
