I have the following Naim System

CDS 2 , NAP 250, NAC52I have just bought an Aurora Media Centre from HAV Solutions http://whathifi.com/Review/Aurora-Elite/ . The Media Centre is connected into a Sony Surround Sound Amp which then feeds the Naim. On Surround Sound the Naim powers the front two speakers and the Sony the back three. For 2 channel audio the Naim powers the speakers.

My question is whether a DACat some point in the system will improve Audio Quality or will the HDMI Soundcard give me that anyway ? If the answer is yes where in the system would it go?

Hope this makes sense

In your current set-up, a DAC would serve no purpose at all. The only way to use one would be to connect it to another digital output on the computer, and feed its output into stereo line inputs on the Naim preamp, purely for use with music playback in stereo.

But I'd want to try one before being able to say whether the sound would be significantly better, if at all, than using the Sony surround amp as digital conversion for stereo sources into the Naims, as you are now.
