Ditching my A/V receiver

I want to minimize my entertainment center's footprint.

I plan on purchasing a Rega Brio-R as my integrated amp for my turntable, dac and headphone amp.

My question is: Can I use the optical or coaxial out from my blu-ray player with my standalone dac that is typically used for computer audio?

If your standalone DAC does have a free input to allow your bluray to be connected. If you had an A/V receiver, chances are that you set your digital output to bitstream which probably won't be compatible with your DAC. What you'll have to do is set it to PCM which will make your bluray output a 2 channel CD type stream and it will work.
