Digital optical cable question

I need a cable to connect my MBP with my DAC - would it be better to get a Mini (3.5) to toslink cable or a toslink to toslink cable and an adaptor?

Also, how much difference does optical cable actually make and can anyone recommend some? Not looking to spend a fortune (£30 tops).

I use a mini to toslink but have also used an adapter. No effect on sound quality if that's your concern.

Was really cheap , does an excellent job and is well made. The service from the supplier was also excellent. Just make sure you order the 2m one ( I ordered the 1m due to the 2m being out of stock and it could do with that little bit more length ).

daveh75 is a guy in the know and said you dont really need to spend anymore in his opinion and I totally agree having now got this lead.

agreed. i've got 3 toslink cables ranging from about 3 quid to 30, not a blind bit of difference between them. get the cheapest.

Cool. Thanks for all the responses - I ended up going for a Fisual pearl - it looks nicely put together and not silly money.

If you only have Toslink or Coaxial input on your DAC then I would strongly recommend an MF V-Link USB-S/PDIF converter that should increase the music performance by quite a large amount.
