Hi All ,

I ve been reading , searching and re searching and i ve narrow my decison to :

PANASONIC 50G20

SAMSUNG PS50C7000 (3D CAPABILITY) - im looking to 3d only as a bonus

Image you can have both by the same price - around 1300 £ ( leave 3d capability only as a bonus)

What would be your choice ?

No test reviews about 50c7000 only user reviews, if you find any let me know ..

Please dont tell to wait for 50vt20 - 1000 £ more is not really reasonable for me./my budget

Let me know what you think ! thank you

ear:id go for samsung.the G series is good, but i guess it wount be better than the samsung.

Thanks for your reply mate .... i see theres a lot of shy people in here ..:)

It's not about being shy. Both TVs are very new. With the paucity of reviews online & lack of availability in shops to compare side by side, any advice is mere speculation which can be dangerous. I have no problems advising you one product or the other, but it's your money at the end of the day.

Thanks BigBoss

I was only trying to get some help from the more experience users... i really dont want mere speculation and i agree its dangerous ... altough i stell see everyday users keep on doing this in here....

From the 50g20 we all know its a good set and i wont be desapointed with picture quality .... my tv is 6 years old lg plasma non hd and still gives me reasonable picture quality..... so i have simple eyes (my english doesnt let me go ahead in dialogue yet)

Im just thinking out loud that this new set its a buy to consider and trying to hold horses for the pana .....

i agree with bigboss that theres not enough info out there to go on , at least with the samsung , for which i can find no reviews , and very little info , although there are some prices ranging from £1300 to £1700 on the net ..

if they are correct , im assuming the sammy is only 3d ready , and not full 3d ? as the price of the 40in sammy full 3dtv reviewed here is £1800 , so it surely must be 3d ready..

one thing that will be interesting is to see how the sammy plasmas black levels stack up this year , ive read that they are now on a par with the g20 , but maybe not the v20/vt20 ?, we will have to wait and see , i think this years high end samsung plasmas will be very close to the panasonics pound for pound.. again , no real proof yet..

Morning CM7,

these two modles you've chosen to compare are very different panasonic txp50g20 is a mid range panasonic tv when samsung ue46c7000 is one of samsungs top spec tv's.

The samsung will offer more but will cost you more, id compare the panasonic TXP50VT20 with the Samsung but also have a look at Sony-KDL""HX803 this will be very good too, there is also KDL46HX903 this will be a full backlit LED system for a full on cinema experiance and amazing contrast.

Im a massive plasma fan and I'v already put my name down for the panasonic, even though iv not seen it yet.

My advise will be to wait until june/july when there is some content available and when all the tv set are available to have a look at.

Go with the one that suites you for picture/pocket, listen to some reviews but go and speak to someone who knows what there talking about, your local independent dealer that want to sell you the best tv for you and not just a box.

Hope this helps, Good luck.

hi junior,

thanks for reply ,

i was talking about pn50c7000 plasma that its in the same price range (portugal - very close price) with the pana 50g20 as a bonus it as 3d..

I have no doubts the 50vt20 will be a good set - but its not on my budget

Hi max,

Thanks for your reply,

The plasma 50c7000 its 1300 £ here so its very close to the pana 50g20 and yes its full 3d .....and yes i like the looks but not enough expert reviews to ensure a concencious buy and i dont want to precipitate myself ... for me that's an investment that suppost to last a coupple of years ( depends on the lottery )

Altough dont much content in 3d i will probably going to value seeing world cop in 3d (portugal) and some other content ... i know a review is going to pop out soon --- thank you for your replys

No problem pal,

What will you be using you TV for?? Not a silly question really, If the samsung is THAT cheap compared to most 3D tv,s you need to ask why?

Im not a fan of the samsung plasma's because they have not solved image retention problem as panasonic has (in my opinion) You can see iv got a panasonic and im a massive gamer and i watch skysports news 24/7 and iv had no problem what so ever, My mate (who didnt listen to me) bought a samsung plasma coz it was cheaper was playing PS3 and now has markes all over his screen that wont go away.

Its cheaper for a reason.

I understand there were some retention issues in some of last years sam models , thats true ...but from what iv heard and read i think they solve it , also remeber another issue that was bodering consumers - the buzz... also solved new models ...

well im not a gammer altough i bought a ps3 1 week ago and sometimes i play something - not much really ....

so im movie fan and lover - movies/ music/ tv / is my thing - thats why i need the upgrade so i can watch all of this in full hd quality - thats a big step / upgrade for me ---- im still wating from december for pana - now i have good price for pana - 5 years warranty and blu ray (for the inconvinience of wating ) still im thinking on samsung cause i could be make a more efficient buy as i were prepared for 3d content - but not enough expert reviews to support my thinkings to give me a safe buy -

Do you understand my dilema now ?

Maybe im gonna acept pana offer receive the 50g20 and test it - if im satisfied ill keep it , if not and if sam turns out to be a good deal i ill return pana and buy samsung ...

What you guys think about this ?

How do you know they have been solved? Samsung have been saying there is no image retention for a few your with there pixle shift system, all im saying dont hold your breath.

I must say, I wouldnt want to be in your shoes, its a tuff one indeed.

with you having a PS3 this machine in 3D compatable with a system upgrade in june, sony are doing this upgrade in stages so you might be waiting abit, dont expect to wakeup and its going to be there for you. (but it might) lol.

Panasonic are offering a really good deal, iv seen them do thing like this for some time, there backup system is really worth its weight in gold, if you addup everything your being offered about £1800 RRP thats fantastic.

Id still wait and see the samsung first b4 committing.

Id ask Panasonic if you can trial the tv first. if you dont ask, you dont get......

I'm no expert but I wouldn't get too bogged down with the 3D aspect. I think it will be a really long time before the amount of available content is sufficient to be a significant factor in choosing a TV (IMHO). HD TV sets have been around for how long now? and it's really only in the last 12-18 months that the amount of HD content (in the UK at least) has become significant and even now, if you're not with Sky HD then you are still quite limited. The other aspect is that if you get the Pana, when 3D comes to the fore in a few years time, its a good excuse to get another new TV

I have a Panasonic TV, it's only a 37 inch LCD model, not anything like the stuff you're talking about, but I have found it to be of excellent picture quality both SD and HD. I too got somewhat stressed about buying it, was it the right one, could I have got a better one or a different model etc. In truth the only small regret I have is that I didn't buy the 42 inch instead.

Trust your own eyes and go with that. If you like the picture, who really cares what anyone else thinks. Don'yt worry about it too much, you will make the right choice.

As for your earlier comment about your limited English, as far as I can see, your English is excelente (thats about the extent of my Portuguese, well that and Obrigado)

unless im mistaken , samsungs 7 series range are 3d ready , you still have to by a 3d box and glasses , that would explain the seemingly cheap price...

i've not yet decided but since i have the ps3 and recent news showed that it could turn out to be a reasonable 3d blu ray player i will only need to buy the glasses (here 100 euros - pair) -

Then i would probably get a similar plasma to panasonic (specifications/quality) but with 3d capability ... sllimer and stylish to ...

But its true - have to wait for expert reviews to make conclusions ... only thinking

But im starting to see myself in my sofa with the glasses and the beer watching world cup in 3d........ By this time i will certnally have witness to a miracle of conversion ----( im talking about my 3d ceptics friends ) - by this time they will have a diferent perspective of things and im also seeing more 3d free glasses in my home :) :)

OK then, well having seen neither brand's latest sets I would definitely go for the Samsung. Or perhaps the Panasonic...
