I've read the review for both of these excellent sounding Blu-ray players. I'm linking it up to a Onkyo SR-606 with a Jamo A102HCS5so I'm assuming that sound isn't the issue here (or am I mistaken) ??? So taking sound conncetivity out of the equation are there any differences between these players with regards picture quality both Blu-ray and Upscaling ??? Don't they use the same PHL Preference Chroma Processor ??? As you can see I'm a little confused.

The main differences between the two models are that the DMP-BD55 has upgraded audio parts including new capacitors and a new 192kHz/24-bit DAC. And it's equipped with a set of seven-channel analogue outputs, which the DMP-BD35 lacks.

As a result, the more expensive player definitely sounds better, but there's little in it as far as picture quality is concerned, both with Blu-ray and DVD upscaling. So if the improvement in sound quality isn't important to you, then the DMP-BD35 will suit you just fine.

AC - slightly confused. Does that mean the 55 sounds better in general, or only really sounds better if you are running it into the TV (i.e. no AV unit). In short, is the 55 going to sound better through the OP's system over the 35?

There seems to be a lot of discussion over the Sony 350/550 v. Pana 35/55 debate. Would be interested in the views at different price points / system points. I guess you'll say it is inherrent as you get what you pay for ;-)
