Hi everyone. I am about to purchase the Pioneer PDP-LX5090 but I can get hold of the LX-508 for £500 cheaper. I know the LX-5090 is better model but to an amatuer is it that much of a difference between the sets. It will be fed predominately Blu-ray and Sky HD. Any help / comments would be appreciated please.

the 508 is not really full hd..it accepts 1080p though.there's reviews on both here on the site.

If you can afford the LX5090 then for the extra £500 you get the very best set there is today (with the exception of the LX6090!).

Sorry! Prehaps I wasn't clear. The 508 i'm refering to is the PDP-LX508 which I thought was FULL hd, or am I mistaken ??? I have read the reviews in WHF magazine but was wondering if the £500 extra is worth the differance in performance.

You are both right. My mistake just try so get a 508 review somwhere, because the review here imo isn't quite detailed enough.

The models with the LX prefix are FULL HD 1080p. Only you can decide whether it is worth paying the extra 500 pounds.

From the reviews, I get the impression that the 9G is a bit better than the 8G but we are not talking about a quantum leap in improvement unlike from the 7G to the 8G. If you have cash to burn, then get the 9G. If not, use the 500 pounds for a good amp like the Denon 1909 or Onkyo 606.
