After a weeks home demo, I just would not be able to let this go now. After just about 3 or 4 hours it was an easy decision. After about 4 days I put my old amp back in and the difference was enough for me to part with the cash.

Bass is superb with this amp.

Thanks to everyone who helped me over the last few weeks.

They're very clean with excellent bass control (matching is still important though, as it would be with any other amp/speaker combination), and don't impart any character to the end result. Crazy flexible too, allowing any type of speaker setup (2.0/2.1/2.2).

Maybe speakers next upgrade.....but thats a year or so away.

Good news... which source have you decided on?

Well thats not quite decided yet. The CLIC is definitely staying as could not live without all my music accesiible.

CD player was going, but it has magically reappeared today and a decison will be made over the weekend.

The CD player is slightly better SQ, but its not a huge difference if you ask me.

I need a new network player though as the CLIC is not digitally connected.

Womaz,

Welcome to the Devialet club! I'm sure you'll be happy with the Devialet. (I ought to be sure, as I gave you a bit of a nudge in that direction.) It's a lot of money, but it's hugely versatile and powerful.

It isn't the be all and end all, but it is worth seeking out a demo of the speakers listed on Devialet's website that have had a SAM profile produced. My first concern would be to chose speakers you like though - SAM would just be the icing on the cake.

Yes this would be the logical thing to do i agree. Its always been the PMC 26s that come to mind as I love my 23s. My room is not huge thooug at 14ft by 23ft and I sit approx 12ft from the speakers.

If I am going to spend say 6k on speakers though obvioulsy I will do as I always do. Pick the brains of much more knowledgable people than me and then listen.

Also the possibility that I upgrade the source instead................will see what develops

Matt I have a lot to thank you for. This piece of kit is definitely the biggest game changer i have heard. I would probabably never considered it if you had not brought i into the equation. I always thought it was way too much to spend on one component. However after a weeks home demo if the price had doubled I think I still would have found a way to keep it.

Cheers! That makes me feel a bit less guilty about encouraging you to spend more money than you intended.

Still a little confused to see which way i go next. Source - may wait for Dialog and see if sound quality is as good as my CLIC and Cd player give. If it is then the Speakers could be the upgrade path.

If the Dialog disappoints then the source will probably be replaced. But for now this is a significant upgrade for me.

Womaz, I've followed your trials and tribulations with great interest over the last few weeks.

Having originally discounted the D200 as being unnecessarily too expensive (I can easily afford one), I've recently taken a fresh interest in it, following my own frustrations with my selection of various amps and speakers. Your experience, as shared here, has only added to that interest. Now it's time to go and listen and think seriously about taking the plunge.

I'm pleased that you have had a successful outcome. D@mn you ! *biggrin*
