What is the diffrerence between the 250II/250III and 250SE? I think i'm after one of these to run my Mordaunt Short MS20i's, i gather that it's a good match. It's a 2xSL1200 and SH-EX1200 setup, so all vinyl really and i've read the PMA-250 series of amps all have good phono stages. The 350 is expensive by comparison and i don't really need that kind of oomph, much as i'd like it! Cheers.

Yes, I have the denon PMA 250SE and it is a very good amp. Much better imo to the Kenwood 3020SE of similar age I used to have. You would have to make sure the one you buy is fitted with a phono board. They are not standard. Mine doesn't have one but then I only use CD/radio.

I used to use the PM350-SE prior to my Marantz upgrade - i kept the amp 20 years! That tells you everything you need to know about my thoughts on that series. The 250 will have less ooomph as you say, but will prob have plenty of volume. If youre after a budget amp, you could do a lot worse, and as they are now old a second hand one would be pretty cheap. Ive still got my 350SE, but doubt id get over £70 if i sold it.
