Ok, when the Denon DVD 1930 and 2930 players came out last year, the 2930 gave a better picture than the 1930. Now the 1940 player came out this year, it too gives a better picture than the 1930. So both the 2930 and 1940 are better than the 1930.

So I wonder, how much difference in picture quality (not sound or features) is there between last years 2930 and this years 1940? I would expect the 2930 to be better but by how much, has anyone compared the two?

If i was you i wouldn't consider both because for £270 you can get a Toshiba EP35 with 7 free hddvd's from Amazon UK and it's bigger brother Tosh XE1 for £440 5 free hddvd's.If you read What hi-fi issue's May 07 and Dec 07 you would learn that they
found the dvd picture quality on both the Tosh's could easily match those from the Denon's,and especially i see more value if you go down the Tosh root, with the added benefit of hd visuals and sonics.
How much have you been offered for the Denon 1940/2930?

All I can tell you is that the 1940 gives you a fabulous picture. The best way I can describe it is if you have Sky HD, standard dvds look the same as Sky movies HD. I have The Departed on dvd and it was shown on Sky HD recently, I flicked from one to the other and could not tell the difference.

My tv is the Sony KDL40w2000
