Hi,

Although Monitor Audio states nominal impedance of their BX2 speakes as 8ohm various resources report it to be 5ohm at best. One of them: http://www.monitoraudio.de/download/reviews/MA-BX2-Test-AUDIO_11-2010.pdf

Now since Denon DM38 can accept minimum 6ohm speakers I just wonder if this is actually a good idea to marry this two.

Anyone having hands on experience with such setup and willing to tell a story? It will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

So can we trust retailers then??? Such setup is being offerd as a kind of a standard:

http://www.hifix.co.uk/hi-fi-package-deals/denon/d-m38-silver-inc-bronze-bx2-speakers.html

http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/product/4178/denon-dm38-dab-micro-hi-fi-sytem-with-bx2-speakers-and-qed-cables

http://www.royjowetthomecinema.co.uk/denon-dm38dab-monitor-audio-bx2-package.html

There must be people around who have clicked "Buy" on such offer. Please report on how does it work.

There's no reason for any concern. You're burning your brains for free. Monitor Audio BX2 is a easy drive model.

Most equipement is built with a factor of safety, so the limits could be exceeded briefly without problems, but drive low impedence speakers at the outer reaches of the amplifiers ability and something will give.

Exactly what happens to an amp and speakers at or beyond their limit is not something I have explored mind you.

As for the trusting bit, well...........
