Has anyone listened to the Denon D-F109 DAB N? Or has anyone sumbled across any decent reviews? I'm surprsied what Hi-fi haven't stepped up to this one yet.

I'm interested in the network streamer version (without the CD player).

Many thanks.

Best thing you can do is arrange a demo and listen for yourself. Might also be worth considering the Denon CeOL and the Marantz MCR603 as options.

I'd expect the D-F109 to be very good (big fan of Denon here), but I can't say conclusively because I haven't heard it. The CeOL is excellent though.

Recently been testing the various D-F109 combinations for a forthcoming issue of Gramophone, and they're really rather good. Review will be in January issue, on sale in December. But I'd give the optional speakers the swerve...

Well if you have anything more useful to say cse, please feel free. Otherwise perhaps it would be better if you didn't feel the need to criticise those who have bothered to try and help. Advising someone to audition is the best possible advice, particularly as the query is in reference to equipment that very few people have heard.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I went with the Marantz MCR603 (with Monitor Audio's RX1 speakers) in the end as I couldn't find any reviews on the Denon F109 and the couple of local hi-fi specialists didn't stock it.

Still waiting to picking everything up at Seven Oaks Hi-fi. I can barely wait : D

I was going to ask Andrew how does the F109N compare with the MCR603 and if I should cancel my order but figured he probably won't give away his conclusions and spoil the upcoming review ;)

Has anyone come across a helpful review on this product line yet? I almost purchased the Marantz 603 because it ticked as many of the boxes I could have imagined possible, then just by chance I came across the Denon d-f109 line. Clearly its in a different price bracket, but not entirely out of the question. Speaking for myself, I am primarily interested because if all this networking/dab/internet radio/ipod connectivity is so new, then getting a product just released in late 2012 is very likely to be superior to one released in 2011, esepecially from 2 product lines owned by the same company. That Airplay is ready installed is the icing on the cake and my only disappointment is that this system doesn't come with an alternate speaker output (for a different room), but that is a minor quibble. Anyway, I can't find a review of this product anywhere! Well, one in english at least... If there is someone out there who had hands on experience of the product (especially the DAB receiver and Network Player), or any helpful reviews it would be much appreciated. For me, there are no shops within 40 miles of me that stock this product line ,so a demo is more than a challenge unfortunately. Many thanks.

From Denon's UK website:

Quote
"You're unlikely to be disappointed" by the D-F109 DAB in Andrew Everard's 'Product of the Month' review.

According to this fantastic article, the D-F109's "presentation of music is very acceptable indeed. There's fine bass definition and speed" and it "makes a good job of vocal and instrumental textures and rhythms."

"The best thing about the Denon system is that it's equally impressive whatever the source, from internet and DAB radio all the way through CD to higher-resolution music files."

For the full review check out the January issue of Gramophone magazine.

I bought the denon d-f109 network audio player seperately and connected it to my stereo amp I found it to be very good although I use the wireless feature it somtimes loses connection( probably my internet / router more so than the unit that is the problem) and you have to go through the quick setup menu again, also it takes a minute or two to connect to internet radio when you first turn it on in the morning.Apart from that I have had no problems with it and if you want a budget streamer this is very good.It fitted into my cabinet easily so that was another reason why I purchased it !!!!
