Hi, i am looking to buy the ceol n12 but as i live in a flat i want to listen to hi res ldac via my sony wf1000xm5's. On reading the n12 specs it appears the bt transmitter only does sbc (surely that can't be right) . Has any one heard of a ldac transmitter that can plug into the phono output that would allow me to listen to hi-res via bluetooth.

Thanks

Its more to do with living in close proximity to neighbours and wanting to listen to hi res audio on my sony earbuds. Looking at marantz, denon etc their hi res seems to be be from device (samsung s21) to the receiver (eg denon ceol) and less so re : (eg ceol n12) to sony earbuds (wf1000xm5)

If you want the best out of Bluetooth, then consider the iFi Zen Blue.

Why not use LDAC from your phone to the headphones?

(You should be able to enable this from a ‘Developer Options’ tab - although you may have to Google how to access it initially).

I did this with my Huawei phone (running Android) but the options are only available to alter when a compatible device is connected.

Otherwise, someone else on here used a Auris Blume Pro Bluetooth Receiver - https://forums.whathifi.com/threads/ldac-streaming-but-dull-sound.132024/

Ah ok.

I agree. I have a Denon receiver, Marantz amp and Denon Micro and it would have been nice if they supported LDAC.

aye they boast hi res this and that that but not via bluetooth. I guess i just want i cd network streamer with hi res 24 bit depth to my earbuds and thought i could put a device between phono/aux out to earbuds so as to avoid annoying neighbours 😁

Additionally if i went for speakers how would you advise dali spektor 1 for sound 👍

One of the main reasons to get the Ceol N12 is for its network streaming smarts. I don't think anyone buys it for ultimate Bluetooth transmission.

That's why I asked the OP he's playing local files from his phone, and he has not answered me. If he's streaming from music services, then why in heaven's name use Bluetooth? Especially when Heos supports hires Tidal for example, and also high res from USB stick.

The Ceol N12 is a very expensive box for mainly Bluetooth duty.

Hi, thanks yes i want to use network as well as streaming services. My concern is not annoying neighbours without losing out on hi res.

I have only heard them for a short time at hifi shows/demos so would be difficult to advise.

More than any other component (IMO of course 😊) I would say speakers need to be listened too so you can decide what sound YOU like best.
Thankfully richer sounds are not too far away. I can give them a buzz to see if i can listen to various setups

Sorry for all these questions but i haven't had a decent hi fi since my trio kenwood of the late 80's-90's . I am now being realistic price wise and looking at the ceol n11. The n12 got my attention due to the main pre out in terms of upgrading speakers should i move into a bigger place (no chance 😁) So how would the n11 sit with 2 × 65w cat d amp powering dali spektor 1 or 2 at 25-100w in terms of coverage

Many thanks 👍

You want a bluetooth transmitter which will send LDAC to your Sony Headphones. There are several out there and if you have Prime, there are a few currently discounted.

The easiest way is to connect a transmitter to the headphone socket on the Denon. As far as I know the Denon has no other audio outputs that could be used.

Don't feel offended. But you seem confused. You want to trade in your N12 for the N11? The N12 has HDMI and a phono stage, as well as a bit more power than the N11. Why downgrade?
