How do the newer av receivers, like the AVR 1910/2310, compare with the older models, like AVR 2807 in terms of sound quality.

A friend has the AVR 2807, but wants a newer model to get HDMI 1.3 compatibility.

Obviously, I'm aware about the feature improvements, but is the sound quality a similar improvement?

Anyone know.....

As i'm sure you are aware (Denon 2310 on your kit list) the 2310 offers a very significant improvement over the previous models (2307 etc) with more power and HD audio.
Even the 1910 seems weak on certain setups than the 2310.

I have my 2310 over a week now and am genuinely blown away by it's sound and features.

I too sat on the fence for a bit after it was released.

Your post on AVF helped me rush out the door and drive 210 miles to my nearest Richer Sounds and i have to say it was worth the distance.

Tell him what is he waiting for.

Can't you and your mate do a head-to-head test using your two receivers? I'm sure you'd LOVE to unplug your settled-in new Denon and drag it round to slot into his system

That's what friends are for...

You joke about that, Clare, but it has been mentioned!!!!!!

Especially as he lives 30 metres from my house, literally!

Sorry, this is an old thread.

I like repeating Mr & Mrs Smith to audition my existing AVR1905 with Diamond 9.1. They still sounds great to me.

In my second setup, I replaced my old marantz receiver with AVR1910 also with Diamond 9.1. That movie sounds much better.

But i wonder why AVR1910 doesn't bring real impact while the 4WD vehicle get through the gate in Silent Hill, like my other receiver does?
