I have a Denon avr-1909 which has been away for repair for almost 4 weeks now, due to Denon still not having the particular part and not knowing how many more weeks it will take for the repair to be completed they have agreed to send out a avr-1910 instead. This sounds like a result but to my surprise the 1910 seems to have lost alot of connectivity on its rear panel. I understand hdmi is becomming the standard and the 1910 has an extra hdmi socket but is there any other reason why have they gotten rid of 1 audio input, 1 component input and all s-video inputs and outputs?

I have the option to wait longer and eventually get my 1909 repaired or accept the 1910, I was told by my dealer the 1910 is better but im not sure in which sense?

Also can someone tell me if the display on the reciever is still the same where it shows how many audio channels are being fed in and out of the reciever?

I will most likely keep the 1910 as long as it really is a brand new unit like denon has promised, if its graded or worse it will have to go back.

hello,

I traded my denon 1909 for the 1910. The sound for music is better, especialy the bass. I am more than happy that I sold my 1909 and bought the 1910. If you can connect all your equipment to the the 1910, I would keep the 1910.

The only thing that I miss is that the display has only one line for text. But it's not an big issue, because the sound is more important.

go for it, sound on movies you wont tell the change but if you run your main hifi through it you will tell a touch more depth. I demoed it and i would say its worth to me £50 better and i would have to add £175-£250 so not worth it. The main reason i would do it is for these two features 1-hdmi to hdmi upscaling so your skyhd will be 180p not 1080i. 2- i like the option that the extra 2 channels can be put above the front left and right.
