Hey all,

I'm quite inexperienced when it comes to headphones but recently as they was on a big sale I got a pair of Denon AH-D7100. I had a go on them with a laptop using a Asus Xonar U7 USB Soundcard and the sound quality was quite poor. I used to own a pair of AH-D5000 and the sound quality was excellent with it though I do consider I probably need a more expensive amp? The vocals are the worst with them not even being made audible within the song. I have used both a ipod and my onboard weaker sound card and these both sound good and the sound quality problems are not as present with these. I'm at a bit of a loss though I suspect it's due to the power required by them. I'm also having to use the smaller jack lead with the phones which is not as good quality from what I believe the box says would this make a difference if I was to get a 6.35mm to 3.5mm convertor?

Thanks a lot!

The D7100 are easy to drive. They are just as sensitive as the D600. Both Denons are thin in the mids but your experience does sound odd. Try get yourself a D600 cable it's the same jogh end cable but a 3.5mm. I've got a cable for sale if you are interested.
