Denon 3310, or 2310?

Hi,

I'm currently considering Denon's 3310 (retailing at about GBP900) and 2310 (retailing at about GBP700) AV receivers. The 3310 is only really in the picture because of the integrated network player, which avoids the need for yet another box in the lounge - I don't particularly need the extra 50watts-or-so per channel which the 3310 offers.

The amp will be for both home cinema and music, and on the music side, the comments in the 3310 review about a lack of bass clarity are a bit of a concern. I'm using nice, clean full-range front speakers (hand-built transmission lines from IPL acoustics), and listen to mostly classical music, so I can live without a "huge" helping of bass weight, especially if it comes at the expense of clarity.

I plan to try and compare the two in-store when I get a chance, but before I do, does anyone have any experience of how the sound compares between the 2310 and 3310? Is the 3310 review just being a bit more critical because of the higher price point (rrp GBP1200), or is the amp generally a lot heavier in the bass department?

Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this, if they've heard both... Thanks!

Paul

I was considering an AVR3310 but after listening to the 2310 /3310 and finally the 4310 there is 2 groups.

2310 /3310 and then a big step to the 4310. Basically the 3310 as far as sound is concerned is barely any different to the 2310, tonally its identical power wise they seem to be about the same id say they are so similar that spending the extra on the 3310 is throwing money away.

Then we have the 4310 which is altogether another beast, this is simply in a different league the sound quality is sublime it has tonnes of power and punches well above its current price of £1400.

Obviously this is just my belief but either go for the 2310 or 4310 the 3310 is a rather pointless stop gap !ÿ
