Hi to all,

I'm a newbie to home cinema so I need a little help with the speakers I purchased.

I bought a denon 2310 to match a pair of scandyna minipods and micropods for rear but I found out that the speakers are 4ohm.

Will the denon do the work or am I risking my speakers? I have no clearly idea of ohms etc so I'm in your need for help.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I forgot to mention that I was planning to match it with a scandyna bass station subwoofer -70 watt rms active amplifier class d (4 ohms).

If you have any other sub that can perform better in mind - I'm 70/30 for music/films- please let me know,

Thanks again

I read somewhere (maybe on another thread on this forum) that some have experienced problems with the 2310 cutting out when trying to use 4-ohm speakers. Recommended speaker impedance for the 2310 is if I recall correctly between 6 and 8 ohms.

As you can see from my setup below, I have that exact combination and have no problems at all...sounds great 🙂

I chose to use a 12" Dali Concept subwoofer instead of the bass station...made a huge improvement...especially in the very low tones.

Thank you all for answering to my concern, I'll set my system up soon and inform you the soonest.

If you have any thoughts about the type/brand of wiring it would be a huge help 🙂

STEEPS, I had already noticed your setup and I was hoping for your advice.

How "loud" can you get without risking the speakers and/or the amp? If you have any advice about wiring/ amp setup etc I would be grateful. Also, have you tried scandyna subs or any other brand before you end up with dali? I was told that a powerful sub won't much well with the minipod-especially for music so i'm between 70-200watt subs but I can't test them first..

thanks again, Chris

Hi Chris,

I used to have a Nad t743 receiver, before I bought the Denon. This didn't sound too good at high levels, whereas the Denon/minipods holds onto the clarity and precision at +75% levels. So very impressive

I also had a Scandyna subwoofer while using the nad, it was only a 8", matched for the micropods at the time. The dali goes much deeper, and is also softer with music. It has a 225 watt amp, so it's not too powerfull. Saying that, if I was to buy again, I would definitely try out the B&W ASW608 or ASW610, as it seems to be a good match.

I use QED speaker cables to the fronts and center.

As far as settings on the amp go....all speakers are set to small, crossover at 80hz, Audyssey turned off (after running the setup mic to get speaker distances).

The minipods sound much better after they are run in...
