Denon 2310 No digital sound input?

Hi

I recently bought a Denon 2310 (10 days ago) and only got some optical and coaxial cables yesterday.

I have attached them as per the manual (correct input assignments), but I still only get analog stereo from the composite lead. When I connect only the digital cables I get no sound whatsoever. I have triple checked all connections and combinations and bought new digital cables (QED Performance) and still no sound.

I have tried connecting Sony psp3, Sky HD (pace) and Denon DVD but still get no digital signal.

Is there something I have missed? A firmware update? I have 0.69 installed. Maybe a factory reset (I have tried that and still no luck!)

Is there anything else that can be done? I am stumped.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Just to clarify something - when you say you've made the 'correct input assignments, as per the manual', do you mean that you've gone by the names Denon have given their inputs? For instance, have you connected your Sky+HD box into the optical/coaxial inputs marked 'CBL/SAT', just because they were so named?

I only mention it because I find it best to disregard Denon's pre-naming of inputs, and also to pretty much ignore the nigh-on useless manual. All inputs are equal, and should ideally be numbered rather than named IMO. Just make sure that, under the 'Input Settings' menu, that all digital audio inputs (O1, O2, C1 and C2) are matched to the correct digital video inputs (HDMI 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Also, make sure each of the components you're connecting (PS3, Sky, DVD) are properly set up to send their audio over optical/coaxial. The PS3 has to be manually set to output sound over optical rather than HDMI, while the Sky+HD box needs to be set to output 'Dolby D' under the 'Sound' menu.

If you've already done all this, then I'm afraid I can't really think of anything else.

Have you gone into the denons menu & assighned the inputs, if you haven't then you need to do so for it to work.
