Just taken delivery of a second hand Pioneer 5090H.

Can anyone else with this set help me?

When I switch my set on, it takes 12 seconds from pushing the button the it actually giving me a picture.

Is this normal? Do i have a setting wrong or does this sound abnormal.

Thanks

Have no experience with that Pioneer (unfortunately

), but it's not unusual for modern TVs to take that amount of time to switch on. My 4 year old Panasonic plasma takes about 7-8 seconds and there was talk on here the other day about a Philips set which takes about 14 seconds.

daveh75:It's normal, never actually timed it but my 5090 takes a few second's to display an image from switch on...

Hi, I get a banner across the bottom of the screen actually stating, "please wait - starting up" with a yellow warning triangle.

again, do other people get this?

Yeah I get that with my KRP-500a, which is almost the same TV, I think it's normal, mine's been doing it from day one, so I wouldn't worry overly much, the picture's well worth the wait!

Hi, I've just spoken with Pioneer about this just to check it out and it is normal on the 5090H and 500a models but not on teh standard 5090.

Thanks everyone for your input and help.
