So maybe you guys can help me in deciding.

here is the issue

My apt is 700 square feet all in all.

The two places I listen to music are my bedroom appx 180 square feet and my Living roon which is appx 200 square feet ( with a listening distance of 12 feet only)

Right now I have my old JVC mini system with two speakers rated at 15 watts each.

It fills both rooms quite a bit and actually it fills the Living room more as the rooms listening distance is shorter than my bedrooms.

I want to have something to listen to in both rooms. In my bedroom i have my guitar amps where I can play louder since the room is further away from the front door and is more isolated to not bother the neigbors. So I can actually hear music louder in there.

I also love hanging out in my living room more since I have the TV in there and my sofa.

I just started listening to hifi systems and really liked the combination of an Arcam FMJ A19 with some Martin Logan motion speakers.

The problem with this system is:

1) Will be stationary in the Living room only where currently my 15watt speakers do fill the room pretty well. ( i cannot play music or movie volumes too loud)

2) Expensive. ( about $700 for the Arcam and $1500 for the speaker pair)

The pros are:

1) Sounds great

A second solution I was thinking of was getting a pair of active speakers such as the Adam f5s

The Problem with this system is:

1) Doesnt sound as good as the Martin Logan setup

2) cant upgrade and expand

The Pros are:

1) Can use them for my Living room as well as move them around easily to my bedroom when I want

2) sound good

3) much cheaper

4) Power is more suitable to my volume restrictions

I was thinking of getting the active speakers for now and maybe later after listening more and expanding my knowledge, plus the Martin Logans will come out with a new model and be WAY cheaper in the near future.

On the other hand I could get the Martin Logan/Arcam setup and have a really nice setup. but it will be turned pretty darn low for the power it can outut.

any suggestions?

thanks!

If you have any pro music stores near you, you could try the likes of Focals CMS range, Dynaudio, Adam, Mackies HR range, Event 20/20 or 30's.

All you have to do then is add your source.

The monitors I've mentioned above start from $700 and end up in the $2k range... Of course you can spend more

I tried the Adams but the environment wasnt the best.

Good speakers though and the power is right for my area.
