Based on your original budget and what you said you were looking for in your first couple of posts (before this thread) - I think you have done the right thing.

Just a bit of patience now, until you get the AVR, bluray, centre and sub. Then you'll have a big grin on your face :)

i had a grin on my face in the demo room once i heard a sub for the first time. it was mindblowing! i'm sure a bk gemini II or xls200 can outperform an "overpriced" imo dali £500 subwoofer?

although i am having buyers remorse (in a different sense this time) i wish i had bought the monitor audio silver 2. although they are so out of my budget i just keep thinking about what i could have in the future and i want it now. no patience :( and even if i got the silver 2's now i would need the silver centre which is like £400 too..do speakers keep their price better than phones for example? in years to come i may decide to sell my centre and bookshelves to upgrade to the MA silver 2's down the line or if any better speaker released in the future catches my eye

the only thing different sounding of my speakers from my bundled sc-n8 which retail for £70 is the bass..so in theory i paid £230 for extra bass?

I think you might need quite a high powered amp to run the silver 2's really well. Monitor audio says min of 40w. You may as well go for floorstanders and forget the sub idea. The floorstanders such as Monitor audio BX5 ot 6 or Q acoustics 2050i would take up the similar space to the silver 2 or Dali Zensor 3 on stands.

I have the same issue, in that I want to get larger speakers but not upset the neighbours. Maybe headphones are the answer.

I have the zensor 5 surround system with a yamaha AV amp in my living room and that system is awesome with bass a plenty from the 5/1's & sub combo. Totally recommend you thinking about building towards that longer term. However I also have the zensor 3 's in my study for audio from Mac mini via a dac magic into my trust old 20 yr old NAD system and they really rock for music (both from the mac and the NAD cd)They give a real and balanced sound to my ears for stereo which is very listenable albeit without the bass thump that the zensor 5 system adds. I prefer the 3's for my music and the 5's for the big movies which rattle the teeth.

horses for courses as they say....

enjoy them for what they are - excellent for the price and size
