Daft question about stand by...

sorry if this is a bad question but

is it best to leave all Hi Fi gear on stand by (not good for the environment i know) or turn it off completely every time you use it?

Someone told me the manufactures say leave the equipment on??

or does it not matter?

Depends how green you want to be Dean!

Personally i turn mine off at the plug and switch it on an half hour before fun time.
