Reading this months magazine was an article about dac's which says that every computers soundboard has adac otherwise it wouldnt have a headphone out. Now I listen to a lot of music via my laptop which is plugged into my av amp using the headphone out split into red and white analogue cables. The article says that these dacs will greatly improve sound but how do i connect to one if they only have optical/coax in's and i have a headphone out?

get one with a USB in. or double check that you dont have a digital out hiden some where on the laptop and then you could run a cable direct to the AV Amp.
Some headphone sockes have a mini Toslink in them.
