Hi Just wondered if anyone had any experience....

I currently have a Sonneteer Byron CDP. But mainly use PC - USB -Caiman - Pathos Classic - Harbeth SHL5

I was thinking of changing the Byron and Caiman for a CA 840C, getting a USB to SPDIF converter and using the 840c DAC so swapping 2 boxes for one and using coax instead of USB.......but obvioulsy the sound is more important

Anyone got any views on this?

Cheers

I'd be careful. Conversion from USB to Coax/Optical would also need to be of high quality, as it involves (re)clocking the signal that arrives in 1ms chunks (USB) (the exact pace is based on the PC's clock) to output at a given sample rate using the converters clock. It is possible of course since there are also very good usb dacs that incorporate this step.
