Hey folks

Im about to buy my very first DAC tomorrow and its a REGA!! Problem is I get confused when it comes to the cables required to set it up. Basically I want to link it up to my Apollo R cd player so can someone recommend a good cable and the exact type of cable for it? Does the DAC then need to be connected to the Amp or is it ok to leave the Apollo plugged into the Brio? I also want to link my laptop to the DAC and i know i can do this using a usb type a to b lead but then i gather the DAC will then need to be plugged into the Amp so will i have to buy the same two cables i have for the Apollo to sort that out? Many thanks for whoever takes the time to answer!!

Hi,

IMO you will not notice any improvement in sound quality if you connect the Apolo R to the DAC!

But if you want to try you can either use a Coax or a optical cable.

To connect the PC to the DAC you will need a A to B USB

Finaly, the DAC has one Analogue output that should be connectet to one of the Brio R inputs.

Hey thanks for reply. So im a bit disapointed to hear it wont enhance the sound of the apollo as ive read it does but think i have to try it for myself!! Ive had a quick look at the back of the DAC so the Analogue output has two ports. Will the same Digital interconnect cable i use for the apollo to brio work then?

You'll need analogue RCAs cable to connect the DAC into the Brio R.

If we are talking about the Apollo R cd player, I think that you will not have that much of improvement, if any... But as I've said, that is my opinion...

For me the best input that the Rega DAC has is the USB, is the one I use for my Synology NAS.

sorry would the Rega couple 2 RCA to RCA Interconnect be suitable for DAC to Brio?

Thats it, the function of the DAC is to transform digital information into analogue, so it get in the DAC through the optical, coax or USB inputs and came out as analogue information through the RCAs output strait into any amplifire.

But don't use the first input in the Brio R, that one is for a turntable only!
