DAC CYP AU-D3 - what connection method from sky hd?

After reading this months mag, this little dac has come to my attention. I have sky hd box connected to my cyrus amp, but would like the sound to be better, via this dac.

What is the best connection method from the sky box, would it be optical or coaxial? Also, what cheap-ish cable would people recomend?

Phil I personally cant hear any difference between digital cables,so just buy a cheap well built cable.

No worrys, will go to richer sounds on tuesday to get the dac, then order a optical cable.

Does this DAC handle multi-channel audio? If not you're going to find things go very quiet everytime a 5.1 soundtrack comes on, unless you set the Sky box to output in stereo.

Very good question, and I have not got a clue, so will go have a look....

Judging by your sig you don't have surround sound anyway, so just set the SkyHD box to output stereo and don't worry about it. Should be ok.

yeah, I know. The sofa is back against the wall, so no chance for 5.1.

When I get the little dac, will put the settings to stereo, and see what difference it makes.

If you read up on 5.1 speaker positions the recommended position for surround speakers is 90deg to 110deg from your seating position.

My sofa is also back against the wall with speakers positioned in the corners - and this works fine.
